asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state the total amount of money expended, through the South Tipperary County Council staff on special employment schemes, on road-work, during each of the last four years; the total amount paid in each year to (a) the county surveyor, (b) the assistant county surveyors, (c) other supervising road staff, and (d) clerical staff, for services rendered in connection with the supervision of the work; and also on what basis the allocation fees are paid to the supervising and clerical staff.

The total amount of money expended through South Tipperary County Council staff on special employment schemes on road work during each of the last four years and the total amount paid in fees in each year to the county surveyor and the assistant county surveyors was as follows:—
The county surveyor and assistant county surveyors are allowed fees of ½ and 1 per cent. respectively on expenditure upon roads rural schemes in their areas in respect of the extra work involved in recruitment and rotation of labour on the schemes. The clerical staff or other supervising road staff are not paid by way of fees for these schemes.
