Vol. 101 No. 19

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Irish Fruit Industry.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether his Department has under consideration any scheme for the rationalisation of the Irish fruit industry, and in particular the apple industry, so as to ensure a reasonable profit to the fruit grower and a reasonable price to the consumer.

The recently published White Paper in regard to crops, pastures, fertilisers and feeding-stuffs contains a statement of the policy proposed for encouraging the growing of vegetables and fruit for market. The working out of this policy will, it is hoped, make for the attainment of the objects indicated in the Deputy's question.
