Vol. 102 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Enniscorthy Town Clerkship.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that the position of Town Clerk of Enniscorthy has been vacant since 11th January, 1945; if he will state the reasons for the delay in filling the post; and also, why the temporary holder of the post, in view of the satisfactory services he is render ing, has not been appointed in a permanent capacity.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. In regard to the second and third parts of the question I would point out that the post is one to which the Local Authorities (Officers and Employees) Act, 1926, as amended, applies. I understand that the statutory request was made by the local authority in June, 1945, and that the delay in making a recommendation has been due to circumstances outside the control of the Local Appointments Commissioners.
