Vol. 102 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Petrol Ration for Boat Owners.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, in view of the considerable casual employment which the use of private boats by their owners is bound to create, he will now consider granting a monthly petrol ration to private boat owners.

I am not at present in a position to add anything to the reply given on the 6th June last to a similar question addressed to me by the Deputy.

Is the Minister not aware that in Britain, where the basic allowance is lower than here, there is a recognised official rate for private boats, and will he not consider granting. similar facilities here, now that there is some improvement in the petrol supply position?

It is not possible to do it now; an allowance will be granted as soon as it is possible.
