Risteárd Ua Maolchatha

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the number of (a) persons with means, (b) persons without means, discriminating between (i) men, and (ii) women, having applications current for unemployment assistance during the week preceding each of the following dates, viz., 27th April, 1946; 25th May, 1946; 29th June, 1946; 27th July, 1946, and 31st August, 1946, in each of the employment areas: (1) Dublin and Dun Laoghaire, (2) North Leinster, (3) South Leinster, (4) North Munster, (5) South Munster, (6) North Connacht, (7) South Connacht, (8) Ulster; the number of others, discriminating between (A) men, (B) women, (C) boys, and (D) girls, on the live register (including persons with unemployment insurance claims current) in each of these employment areas during the week preceding each of the following dates, viz., 27th April, 1946; 25th May, 1946; 29th June, 1946; 27th July, 1946, and 31st August, 1946; and the totals of such persons.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the total amount of unemployment assistance payments made in each of the months of April, May, June, July and August, 1946; and the amount of such payments made in each month in respect of the Dublin registered area.

Mr. Lemass

The total amount of unemployment assistance payments made in each of the months of April, May, June, July and August, 1946, and the amount of such payments made in each of those months in respect of the Dublin Registration Area were as follows.

The figures are, of course, subject to audit.
