Vol. 103 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rosslare-Fishguard Services.

Mr. Corish

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state what steps have been taken to have the cross-Channel mail boat service between Rosslare Harbour and Fishguard resumed; and if there is any hope that it will be in operation before Christmas.

I regret that I have nothing to add to the reply which I gave the Deputy last May, when I informed him that I was unable to say when the passenger service between Rosslare and Fishguard may be resumed. He will, no doubt, have seen in the Press the report of a statement by the British Minister for Transport, that the service would be restored as soon as the work of reconditioning a vessel recently released from British Government service has been completed.
