Vol. 103 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Soldiers' and Sailors' Land Trust.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he is yet in a position to publish the report of the Shannon Commission which inquired into the position of the Soldiers' and Sailors' Land Trust.

There have been no developments since the 23rd May last, when I replied to a question from Deputy McAuliffe on this subject and, as stated then, I cannot hold out the hope that the Government will be in a position to make any statement on the matter.

Would the Minister state if there have been any negotiations with the British Government since May last on this particular subject?

I could not say that. I do not conduct any negotiations with the British Government.

The reply to my question depends on, if not negotiations, then discussions. "Discussions" is the word the Minister used in his reply in May last. May I ask, therefore, if the Minister has had any discussions with the British Government or any representative of the British Government on this particular subject since May last?

I have had no discussions with the British Government.

Has anybody had, on the Minister's behalf?
