Vol. 103 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Petrol Rationing.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will now withdraw the petrol rationing scheme; and if not, if he will give the reasons why it is necessary to retain it.

I am not yet in a position to consider the withdrawal of the petrol rationing scheme. Petrol supplies to this country are still limited and the quantity available is not sufficient to meet requirements. The rationing scheme must be continued until such time as supplies are available to meet full requirements. I cannot say when that stage will be reached.
