Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Army Enlistment.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state the number of applications for enlistment received from persons not previously in the Army in each of the months June to October, 1946, inclusive; the number of applications rejected on the grounds of (a) physical deficiency, and (b) educational deficiency; and the net number recruited in each month.

The reply is in the form of a tabular statement which, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, will be circulated with the Official Report.

During the same period (June to October, 1946), there were 637 applicants for enlistment in the Construction Corps, 184 of whom were rejected and 453 of whom were accepted for service in the Corps.
