Vol. 103 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Hollymount (Mayo) Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when the Kennedy Estate, Gortskehy, Hollymount, County Mayo, will be acquired and subdivided to relieve the serious congestion which exists in the immediate vicinity of these lands; further, what negotiations have taken place in this case; and also, how many landholders, living within one mile of the lands, are entitled either to additional lands or to be migrated.

Inquiries have been instituted as regards the holding of Mr. John Kennedy, Gortskehy, which is situated on the estate of the Irish Land Commission (formerly Gilmartin Estate), Record No. S.6513, but the matter requires and will receive further investigation and consideration. The precise figure required by the Deputy is not available but my information is that congestion in the immediate neighbourhood is not very acute.
