NOTE:—A case in County Cavan in 1942 is excluded because the increase in valuation was more than offset by the deletion of the valuation of another holding of the same person.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state, in respect of each of the years 1934 to 1939 inclusive, for each county, the number of cases in which the valuation of property was raised by reason of the fact that a profit accrued from the cutting or selling of turf and the total such increase of valuation.

The particulars asked for by the Deputy are contained in the following table:

It may be added, for the Deputy's information, that, during the period covered by the question, 161 applications for revision of turbary valuations were dealt with by the Valuation Office. As indicated in the table, valuations were increased in 16 cases; in 31 cases there was no change and in the remaining 114 cases the valuation was reduced. The revisions resulted in a net reduction in valuation of approximately £700.
