Written Answers. - Fhior-Gaeltacht Schools.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state the names and locations of the schools which, during the last ten years, have been removed from the list of schools scheduled as being in the Fíor-Ghaeltacht; the date upon which they were removed; the reasons for such removal; and if later restored to the list, the date of and reason for their restoration.

The following schools were removed since 1st January, 1936, from the list of schools scheduled under Rule 121 (1) of the Rules and Regulations for National Schools as schools situate in the Fíor-Ghaeltacht:

These schools were removed from the list of schools scheduled as being in the Fíor-Ghaeltacht, because the Department was not satisfied, from the results of investigation in connection with the grant of £2 payable to parents (or guardians) in the Gaeltacht or Breac-Ghaeltacht in respect of each child attending a primary school in the Gaeltacht or Breac-Ghaeltacht, that Irish was generally spoken as the language of the homes in these school-districts. None of these schools has been restored to the list.
