Vol. 104 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Teachers' Petrol Allowance.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will consider extending the provision of supplementary petrol allowances to primary, secondary and vocational school teachers who use their cars in the performance of their duties.

Supplementary allowances are available for private motor vehicles used by primary and secondary teachers in rural areas who reside at least four miles from their schools.

The petrol supply position does not at present permit of the grant of supplementary allowances to the additional categories mentioned by the Deputy.
