Vol. 104 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification Schemes.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will give particulars of rural electrification schemes intended to be carried out by the Electricity Supply Board during the year 1947.

Applications for supply have been received from every county. The canvass has been completed in 13 areas and is proceeding in several others. Construction is in progress in Kilsallaghan, County Dublin, Inniscarra, County Cork, and Patrickswell, County Limerick. In the near future, ten further areas will be selected for immediate development. Later in the year, should the supply of materials warrant, it is hoped to select 15 further areas. The areas are being selected in accordance with the policy that one area is to be done in every county and the best area in a county is to be done first.
