Vol. 104 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Postal Service.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware of the grave inconvenience caused to Dublin business life by reason of the recent alteration whereby the general mail to Cork and intermediate places on this line has to be posted at 5.30 p.m. or 5.45 p.m. at the General Post Office and College Green; and whether he will make representations to Córas Iompair Éireann to have the hour of the departure of the night mail train returned to 7.45 p.m. and, consequently, if he will alter the hour of the mail collection back to 6.15 p.m.

In consequence of recent further train alterations which took effect on the 20th instant the former departure time, viz.—7.45 p.m.—of the train conveying the night mails to the south of Ireland has been reverted to and the latest time of posting at the General Post Office and College Green Post Office for the despatches by this train is again 6 p.m. as previously— not 6.15 p.m. as stated in the Deputy's question. Late fee posting facilities are available up to 6.30 p.m.
