Vol. 104 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Holiday Camp at Gormanston.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that Holiday Resorts, Limited, propose to erect a holiday camp at Gormanston, County Meath; if he is aware that this camp will be in close proximity to the military and air base at Gormanston, where regular firing practices are carried out by the military, and if he will state what steps he proposes to take to ensure that this camp is erected at a safe distance from the military base.

The answer to the first and second parts of the question is in the affirmative.

In regard to the last part of the question, the position is that since the site of the proposed holiday camp is on private property over which my Department has no control, I have no authority to prevent its use for any purpose which does not interfere with military activities in the Gormanston military camp and aerodrome.
