Vol. 104 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Laoighis Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will consider acquiring and dividing the lands of the Honourable Mrs. M.F. White, Knockatrina, Durrow, Leix, in view of the congestion in the area and the large number of deserving local applicants for land.

There is no change in the position of this case since my reply to the Deputy's question last February.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will consider acquiring and dividing the lands of Miss O'Rourke, Erkinville, Durrow, Leix, in view of the congestion in the area and the large number of deserving local applicants for land.

The Land Commission have no proceedings in hands for the acquisition and division of the lands, comprising an area of 78 acres, of Miss O'Rourke, Erkinville, Durrow, Leix.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will consider acquiring the lands of the representatives of John Croke, Ross, Portlaoighise, Leix, for division among the local tenants on the estate who are paying rent to a middle landlord; if he will arrange to make these tenants direct tenants of the Land Commission; and if, in connection with any balance of these lands, he will sympathetically consider the claims of the local small holders, cottage tenants, Old I.R.A., and landless men who are considered suitable for the grant of portions of the estate.

Fourteen sub-tenancies on the late Mr. Croke's holding at Ross have been declared direct tenancies pursuant to Section 15 of the Land Act, 1931, but there are no proceedings pending at present for the resumption of lands occupied by Mr. Croke's representatives.
