Vol. 104 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clonmel Fuel Shortage.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that there is a shortage of fuel in Clonmel, causing serious hardship generally; that the Clonmel Corporation desire co-operation and assistance from his Department in providing timber for fuel; and if he will cause the necessary consultations with the corporation to be arranged at once, so that a plan may be adopted and any necessary Departmental permissions granted without delay.

I have seen the recent Press reports concerning the fuel shortage at Clonmel but, apart from two telegrams relating to individual felling notices, my Department has received no direct communication from the corporation requesting assistance in the provision of fuel. Any representations the corporation may be pleased to make in this matter will be considered as promptly and sympathetically as possible.
