Vol. 104 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Full-Time Employment.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state the total estimated full-time employment for each of the years 1938-1946, inclusive, as deduced from the net national health insurance contributions income for each year.

The estimated average number of persons (to nearest 100) employed weekly as derived from the net contribution income of the national health insurance fund in each of the years 1938 to 1945 inclusive:—

Year

Estimated Average Numbers. Employed Weekly.

1938

416,000

1939

417,200

1940

1941

399,100

1943

397,600

1944

405,800

Full particulars on which to make the estimate for 1946 are not yet available. It is, however, known that the estimated numbers employed in 1946, based on the national health insurance net contribution income, will show an appreciable increase over 1945.
