Vol. 104 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Currency Statistics.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state, in respect of each of the last six years, the volume of (a) paper currency, and (b) metallic currency in circulation at the end of March, June, September and December.

Presumably the Deputy refers to Irish currency. Particulars regarding the amount of Irish notes and coins in circulation may be found in the annual reports and quarterly statistical bulletins of the Central Bank.

Will the Minister say if the returns of the Central Bank are an official publication?

They are, yes. The Central Bank publishes them.

From the Parliamentary point of view?

Oh, yes. One of the functions which the House imposed on them is to publish this information.

Will the Minister say if they are circulated to Deputies?

They are in the Library, anyway.
