Vol. 104 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Factory Legislation.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is in a position to state when it is proposed to submit proposals to the Dáil for amending the law relating to factory premises and workshops; and whether, before the Bill is submitted in its final form, he will consult the workers' organisations primarily concerned with the enforcement of factory and workshop regulations with regard to its provisions.

The draft of a Bill to amend the law relating to factory premises and workshops is at present under examination in my Department with a view to its early introduction. As regards consultations with workers or other organisations, regarding the provisions of the Bill, I think that, as it will be a long intricate measure involving few, if any, issues of principle, it is better to arrange for such consultations after the Bill has received a Second Reading by the Dáil.
