Vol. 104 No. 18

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Disposal of A.R.P. Blankets.

Mr. Corish

asked the Minister for Defence whether he will permit Wexford Corporation to dispose of surplus A.R.P. blankets to a local charitable society, the Wexford Clothing Society, at cost price; and if not, whether he will state the grounds on which he has hitherto insisted that the corporation shall add a profit to the cost price of such articles.

Permission to sell certain surplus A.R.P. equipment, which included blankets, to charitable organisations at cost price was given to the Wexford Corporation on 21st May, 1946.

If the Wexford Clothing Society is a charitable organisation, it will be entitled automatically to this concession.

Mr. Corish

Could the Minister say why he insists that 25 per cent. be added to the price paid by the Wexford Corporation for these blankets?

If it is a charitable organisation it will be entitled to the concession.

Mr. Corish

And if it is not a charitable organisation?

If it is not a charitable organisation, no.
