Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Transition Development Fund.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the total amount (i) allocated, and (ii) expended, by the 31st March, 1947, from the Transition Development Fund, distinguishing between the various classes of work for which money has been allocated or expended.

The total amount allocated out of the Transition Development Fund by the 31st March, 1947, was £1,638,760 made up as follows: housing, £1,196,360; farm improvements, £299,000; water and sewerage schemes, £140,000; scientific research, £1,900; and fishery premises, £1,500. As I indicated in my reply to the Deputy's similar question on the 25th March, 1947, there may also be expenditure in respect of rural electrification.

The total amount expended by the 31st March, 1947, out of the fund was £56,480, where of £56,360 was for housing and £120 for scientific research.
