Vol. 105 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers - Kildare Caretakers' Wages.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he has received proposals, from the County Manager for Kildare, recommending increased wages for the caretakers of the water and sewerage works at Ballymore-Eustace and Kilcullen; and if he will state what decision has been arrived at in the matter.

I received applications for sanction to increases of salary for both these caretakers. The increase proposed for the caretaker at Ballymore-Eustace, who is engaged on part-time duties, appeared to be based on the assumption that he was a whole-time officer. It is understood that the county manager intends to submit a new proposal. The proposal in the case of the caretaker of the Kilcullen waterworks was for the purpose of bringing his remuneration into line with that of the Ballymore-Eustace caretaker and consideration of it has been deferred until the latter case has been settled.
