Vol. 106 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - European Coal Organisation.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if any invitation has been received by this country to join the European Coal Organisation; if there is any prospect of an allocation of coal from this source; and if so, on what conditions.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. The functions of the organisation include the furnishing of advice to exporting countries on the coal requirements of European countries. It does not control supplies and consequently the question of allocation does not arise.
