Vol. 106 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fuel Shortage in Aran Islands.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that there is a serious fuel shortage, which cannot be met by the ordinary turf trade, in the Aran Islands; and if he will authorise a diversion of some of the Galway national turf to meet the needs of the inhabitants in this matter.

I am aware that the Aran Islands are affected by the present general shortage of turf. Arrangements have been made with the county surveyor to replenish county council stocks on the islands as quickly as possible and at the same time to make supplies available to the parish council to meet immediate needs.
