Vol. 106 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of County Mayo Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that Curraghmore House and lands, containing approximately 200 acres, situate at Curraghmore, Ballinrobe, County Mayo, are owned by a resident in Scotland who has been letting the lands to surrounding congested tenants; further, that this estate has been advertised for sale; and if he will take immediate steps to acquire these lands to relieve the congestion in the townland of Cahir, Ballinrobe, and other adjoining townlands.

The Land Commission do not propose to take steps to acquire these lands.

Will the Minister say why?

The Land Commission do not regard them as suitable.
