The following increases in external assets occurred during 1946. The headings are the same as those of items I (a) to (e), 2, 3 and 4 of the Balance of International Payments Statement for 1945, which was published in the September, 1946, issue of the Irish Trade Journal:—

This gives a total increase of £20.5 million, which is expected to be offset as to about £1 million by contra movements recorded under items (5) to (9) of the statement.
