Vol. 106 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wages of Cork Mental Hospital Tradesmen and Labourers.

asked the Minister for Health whether he will state if the order of the Cork County Manager, dated 18th February, 1947, increasing, with effect as from certain dates in January and February, 1947, the wages of tradesmen and labourers employed at Cork Mental Hospital, was submitted to him for approval; if so, the date on which ii, was so submitted; the date on which sanction was notified to the local authority; or, if sanction has not been notified, the reason for a delay of three months in dealing with a routine administrative matter of this kind.

The proposals in question which were received on 4th March last are under examination and consideration with a very large number of similar proposals from other mental hospital authorities. There will be no avoidable delay in communicating a decision but it will be appreciated that the examination of these proposals which cover a large number of employees of varying types and grades must necessarily take some time.
