asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that Castleisland is in the centre of a turf area; that the transport facilities in that area are curtailed by the closing down of the Gortatlea-Castleisland branch railway line; and if he will direct Córas Iompair Éireann to reopen this line.

I am unable to say when the fuel position will permit of the reopening of the Castleisland branch line. I am informed, however, that Córas Iompair Éireann will provide a special train for turf whenever a sufficient quantity has been accumulated at Castleisland.
