Vol. 106 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Arklow Pottery Works.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is aware that the Arklow Pottery Works have been closed for the past few weeks, throwing several hundred persons out of employment, because of inability to secure sufficient supplies of fuel; and if he will see that an allocation of suitable coal is made before the workers are forced to emigrate from the district in search of employment.

I am advised that the temporary suspension of work at the Arklow Pottery is due to the fact that the company are converting their fuel-burning equipment to the use of fuel oil and modernising the plant generally.
