Vol. 106 No. 13

Written Answers. - Rural Improvements Scheme (County Galway).

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state, in respect of each of the rural districts of Ballinasloe, Portumna, Loughrea, Gort, Mount Bellew, Tuam and Glenamaddy, County Galway, the number of applications received, under the Rural Improvements Scheme since its inception; the number of schemes approved; the number completed; the number in course of completion; the number rejected; the number cancelled through the refusal of the applicants to contribute the amount of local contribution; the number of applicants still awaiting inspection, in each of above mentioned rural districts; the total amount of money made available from State funds for schemes completed and in course of completion; and total amount of money subscribed by way of local contribution.

The compilation of the details asked for by the Deputy would be a task of considerable magnitude, which I consider it would be unreasonable to ask my office to undertake. Particulars are given below of applications received under the Rural Improvements Scheme since is inception, for the whole of County Galway. About 90 or 95 per cent. of these applications were received from the seven rural districts named by the Deputy.
