Vol. 106 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Proposed Increases for Hospital Attendants (Offaly).

asked the Minister for Health if he has received proposals from Leix-Offaly County Manager for the granting of increased rates of pay to attendants at the County Hospital, Portlaoighise, Abbeyleix District Hospital, the County Home, Mountmellick, and similar institutions in Offaly, and also for caretakers of dispensaries; and if he will sanction the proposals as soon as possible.

The proposals indicated have been received. Similar proposals have been received from several local authorities arising out of the general revision of the remuneration of employees of local authorities. The opportunity afforded by this general revision is being availed of to coordinate, as far as possible, rates of pay of local officers and employees throughout the country. This will take some time but it is expected that the cases raised in the Deputy's question will be dealt with at an early date.
