Vol. 106 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mountmellick Telephone Facilities.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that there are at least five applicants for telephones in Mountmellick without connections, despite several requests to his Department to provide telephones; and if he will have the connections made immediately, as these are urgent cases of prominent business and professional citizens of the town.

The facts are not as stated in the question.

Mountmellick was one of the exchange areas where it was possible to effect a clearance of arrears. Agreements were entered into with the four applicants but the storm damage delayed provision of service. These applicants have now been provided for.

A very recent applicant is receiving special attention on account of his connection with the production of turf.
