Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Closing of Railway Branch Lines.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if an application has been made to him by Córas Iompair Éireann for an order authorising the permanent closing of the Woodenbridge-Shillelagh and Sallins-Tullow branch railway lines.

An application has been received from Córas Iompair Éireann for an order to authorise the permanent discontinuance of train services on the Shillelagh-Woodenbridge branch railway line. No decision on the application will be taken until notice of the proposals has been published by the company and ample opportunity has been afforded to interested parties to submit any representations they may wish to make. An application has not been received in respect of the Sallins-Tullow branch line.
