Vol. 107 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Birth Certificate Forms.

Mr. Corish

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware that superintendent registrars of births in various counties are unable to obtain forms for the purpose of issuing birth certificates; whether he will state the cause of the hold up in the supply of these forms; and what steps he proposes to take to remedy this position.

I am aware that the superintendent registrars are unable at present to obtain from the General Register Office the standard type of form which they require for the issue of birth certificates to the public. The position is due entirely to inability to get the necessary supplies from the printing contractors. Every effort is being made to relieve it. In the meantime the superintendent registrars have been instructed to issue certificates on the special form of birth certificate which has been prescribed for use in connection with claims for children's allowances, etc.
