Vol. 107 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Trespass of Sheep.

asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that sheep grazing on the Department's lands at Baldonnel Aerodrome have trespassed on to the adjoining lands of Mr. Thomas Hawe, causing considerable damage; if he will take steps to see that these lands are properly fenced; and if the Department are prepared to pay compensation to Mr. Hawe for the damage suffered by him.

Complaints have been made to my Department in regard to the trespass of sheep from Baldonnel Aerodrome on to the adjoining lands of Mr. Thomas Hawe. As a result of investigation, the trespass has been verified and Mr. Hawe's solicitor is now being requested to furnish details of the losses incurred with a view to the payment of compensation.

Unavoidable interference with the existing fencing at the aerodrome was necessitated by the work of extending the runways which is at present in progress. The defective boundary fencing has been strengthened and repaired so as to obviate the recurrence of trespass.
