Written Answers. - Generation of Electricity.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the quantity of electricity generated and the quantity of electricity sold in each month during the year 1946-47, distinguishing between— (a) domestic; (b) general lighting; (c) general heating, cooking and water heating; (d) industrial motive power and traction; and (e) public lighting.

The information asked for by the Deputy is set out in the following table:—

STATEMENT showing the amount of electricity generated and purchased by the Electricity Supply Board in each month during the year 1946/47 and particulars of the electricity sold, apportioned approximately for each month and analysed according to categories of supply.

Owing to the fact that Consumers' meters are read at intervals of approximately two months, it is only possible to give an estimate of the electricity sold in respect of individual months.
