asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state, in respect of each county council selling turf to Fuel Importers, Limited, the cost of production of turf per ton on the roadside, for each of the years 1945 and 1946.

The information required by the Deputy so far as it relates to 1945 will be found in the following Official Reports of the Dáil Debates:—2nd April, 1946 (volume 100, columns 943 and 944) and 17th April, 1947 (volume 105, column 787).
Final costs for 1946 cannot yet be determined for counties in which balances of turf from 1946 season are still on hands. The following costs have been reported from Mayo and Roscommon, where the 1946 crop has been finally disposed of:—County Mayo, 25/4 per ton on roadside, and County Roscommon, 43/8 per ton on roadside.
