Vol. 108 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Special Allowance.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that the late Mr. Michael Woods (D.P. 16024) died while his application for the grant of a special allowance was under examination; and if he will consider whether his widow is entitled to any grant under the pension code.

I am aware that Mr. Michael Woods died while his application for the award of a special allowance under the Army Pensions Acts was being examined. His widow is not entitled to a grant under the Army Pensions Acts.

If the claim of the late Mr. Woods had been admitted, would there have been in the award made to him any reversionary benefit for his widow in the event of Mr. Woods dying after the award being made, or was it an award which would have no reversionary benefit for the widow?

Only to the extent of the date of the award, and that probably would have been less than a month.

Only so far as it applied to the back money. She would not inherit the pension from him?
