Vol. 108 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing Conditions at Clonbollogue (Offaly).

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the serious plight of those people of Clonbollogue, Offaly, who are residing in houses which are unfit for human habitation and have bad sanitary accommodation; and if, in the interests of the public health, he will direct an officer of his Department to visit the area, with a view to investigating the conditions under which many families live.

I am informed that a number of houses in Clonbollogue village have been reported as unfit for human habitation by the county medical officer of health. A scheme has been prepared for the provision of 12 houses in the village to replace the houses in question and a local inquiry in connection with this scheme will be held this month by one of my inspectors who will investigate the housing needs of the district.
