Vol. 108 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Loans for House-Acquisition.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is now prepared to introduce proposals for legislation to enable local authorities to make loans to private persons, under the Small Dwellings (Acquisition) Acts, 1899 to 1932, on the basis of a higher market value than that at present permitted.

I would refer the Deputy to Section 34 of the Housing (Amendment) Bill, 1947.

Mr. O'Sullivan

Would the Minister say if it is the intention of the Government to put the Housing Bill before the House before its dissolution?

If I thought it would go through as an agreed measure, yes; if not, no.

The Minister has been so long in preparing the Bill we might like to see the Bill in process of enactment before we say anything about it.
