Vol. 108 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Relief of Rates.

asked the Minister for Local Government when it is proposed to introduce proposals for legislation for the provision of the grant for the relief of rates in the next financial year.

The matter is under consideration.

In view of the fact that the county councils are at the present time preparing their estimates for the coming year, does the Minister not think it is desirable to let the county councils know what sums they can expect or on what basis they will be provided so that they can arrange their finances for the coming year?

That is very desirable, but we might still have time to get the Bill through.

You do not seem quite so keen on the election now as you did a few weeks ago.

I am very keen on it, but I am also keen on legislation.
