Vol. 108 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Turkey Prices.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if the price for Irish-produced turkeys, to be sold on the British market during the coming season, has yet been fixed; if so, if he will state what the fixed price per lb. is; also what price per lb. is to be paid for British-produced turkeys in the same market, and if the levy on Irish-produced turkeys will be removed.

The price to be paid by British purchasers for Irish turkeys will be dealt with in the statement to be made by the Taoiseach to-day. The price payable for British produced turkeys is 3/2 per lb. The answer to the final part of the Deputy's question is in the negative.

Has the Minister looked into the question as to whether the coupon situation in England will make it difficult for individual families to buy these turkeys?

I am not responsible for the coupon situation in England.

It does not arise. This question relates to price.

In connection with the price, if that obstacle stands in the way of the purchase of turkeys in England, the Minister might advert to it with a view to making it easier to dispose of them.

If all the turkeys we produce are being taken at a certain price, surely the matter of distribution in England does not fall to me?
