Vol. 110 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Control of Rents.

asked the Minister for Justice if it is proposed to seek powers to control rents charged for furnished rooms and apartments.

asked the Minister for Justice whether, in view of the excessive rents at present being charged for furnished houses and flats, he contemplates extending the provisions of the Rent Restrictions Act, 1946, to such houses and flats.

I propose to take questions Nos. 37 and 38 together. The question of extending rent control to furnished lettings is under consideration but I am not at present in a position to make a definite statement in the matter.
