Vol. 110 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pensions for Dependents of Gardaí.

asked the Minister for Justice if he will consider the introduction at an early date of legislation for the purpose of providing pensions or other forms of compensation for dependent relatives of members of the Garda who lost their lives in the course of their duties under circumstances which do not permit the payment of compensation under the existing law.

I do not intend to introduce legislation to amend the Garda Síochána (Compensation) Acts, but a revision of some of the provisions of the Garda Síochána Pensions Orders is at present under consideration. If the Deputy will let me have further particulars of the kind of amendment which he has in mind, his representations will receive careful consideration.
