Vol. 110 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Social Security Scheme.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he proposes to introduce a comprehensive scheme of social security to provide increased pensions, allowances and benefits for the aged, blind, sick, infirm and incapacitated and for widows and orphans and, if so, when.

The preparation of such a scheme is a major undertaking involving much research and requiring careful consideration. The matter is at present under active consideration and I propose to publish a White Paper on the subject as soon as possible.
