Vol. 110 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Need for Resident Doctor.

Mr. Lehane

asked the Minister for Health whether he is aware that there has not been a resident doctor in Douglas Dispensary District for a considerable time; if he is aware that this causes inconvenience and hardship to the people of the area and if he will state what steps he proposes to take to remedy the position.

I am aware that the medical officer of the Douglas Dispensary District does not reside in the district, and that this may cause hardship and inconvenience to persons residing in the district. The local authority concerned have now been asked to point out to the medical officer that the existing position cannot be allowed to continue, and to inquire what steps he proposes to take to provide himself with a residence in or near the district.
