Vol. 110 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Division of Meath Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state in relation to the old holding of J.J. Fanning, Record No. M. 3242, at Rathcarstown, Ardcath, County Meath: (1) the number of local uneconomic holders who got additions of land thereon; (2) the number of accommodation plots given to cottage tenants; (3) the number of holdings given to West of Ireland migrants; (4) the number of holdings not allotted up to 1st February, 1948, and (5) the circumstances in which a holding was recently occupied on this estate.

In the division of the old holding of Fanning at Rathcarstown, Record No. M. 3242, County Meath: (1) Four local uneconomic holders received enlargements to their holdings; (2) one board of health cottier was allotted an accommodation plot; (3) no West of Ireland migrant received an allotment; (4) one holding was unallotted on the 1st February, 1948; (5) recently the holding and the house on it have been entered upon and occupied illegally. The Land Commission are dealing with the matter.

I presume it would not be true to say that on this holding 11 West of Ireland migrants were accommodated?

No West of Ireland migrant received an allotment there.

Do I understand the Minister to say that this house on the holding which was unallotted on the date named was forcibly and illegally entered?

It was occupied illegally.

Could the Minister say if the law of this country is in abeyance or is it the intention of the Land Commission to institute legal proceedings against the person who forcibly and illegally occupied this house?

Is the law in abeyance?

Ask that in South Monaghan.
