Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Migrants from Congested Districts.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether it is intended to discontinue the policy of taking migrants from the congested districts into the Midlands in future land settlement schemes.

The answer is in the negative.

Lest it might be thought that I was opposed to the policy of migration, I wish to state emphatically that I am not and never was. In the county I publicly advocated——

The Deputy may ask only a supplementary question.

I want to know when the Minister will resume this policy and put it actively into operation, because there are people in Meath who think this policy is at an end while this Government is in office.

The answer is that I wish to assure the Deputy that it will take place before 16 years' time, anyhow.

Another Minister will be doing it.
